Redditch United 0, Poole Town 0

Redditch had to settle for a share of the spoils against league leaders Poole in spite of dominating possession.

Poole’s best period came in the opening 25 minutes when they pinned the Reds in their own half.

And they went close to taking the lead when Tony Lee let fly from 20-yards only for his shot to hit the post.

But from then on it was the home side in command and striker Luke Shearer drilled an effort inches wide seven minutes before the break.

On the stroke of half-time, an Ashley Sammons corner picked out George Carline whose glancing header was again just off target.

Redditch continued to have the better of things after the break with the Poole defence scrambling away a Shearer ball into the danger zone before Sammons put another effort just wide.

But after being on the defensive for so long, the visitors almost snatched the win in the final ten minutes when substitutes Ashan Holgate and Jack Dickson combined with the latter forcing an excellent full-length save from Redditch keeper Jose Veiga.

The result leaves Redditch three points behind Poole with a game in hand.
