REDDITCH United manager Liam McDonald has said he won't be rushed into signing a proven goal-scorer.

The Reds boss is keen to bag a forward who can fire their push for the play-off spots in the Southern League Premier after Daniel Dubidat was released.

United have drawn their last five games, including Saturday's 0-0 draw at Histon, as their top five bid stalls.

McDonald has boosted his squad by signing versatile wideman Rob Thompson-Brown from league rivals Stratford Town.

The former Kidderminster Harriers man plays out wide and but will add goal-power, although he still wants another striker.

McDonald had approached Harriers about a possible loan for striker Gurjit Singh several weeks ago but was told that he is an integral part of their first team squad.

United have also snapped up midfielder Alex Fletcher from Tividale. Fletcher is a product of Shrewbury's youth academy.

McDonald said: "We need a striker but I won't be pushed into a decision, we have to make sure we bring in the right person.

"I am pleased to bring in Rob, who is someone who will add something to our attack.

"A lot of the lads already know him well and Rob knows the division well."

Meanwhile, United were held to a 0-0 draw at Histon.

Redditch had dominated the game but were indebted to keeper Jose Veiga, who produced a host of fine saves.

McDonald said: "I thought that was the best we played going forward in a few games and we could have won the game.

"We've had a number of draws recently and some of them have been good and bad."

In a positive note, influential midfielder Jamey Osborne returned to action after a lengthy injury lay-off.

United tackle Dunstable at home on Saturday (3pm ko) and Kettering on Monday (7.45pm ko).
