LIAM McDonald believes his new deal will ensure more stability at Redditch United.

The Reds boss has agreed a one-year contract which keeps him at the Valley Stadium and allows him to build on last season’s tenth place finish in the Calor Southern League Premier.

Assistant Nick Green and coach Dave Bridgwater are also expected to stay in a move that will cheer supporters delighted by last season’s positive campaign.

McDonald has bucked a trend which has seen managers come and go at United in alarming fashion.

Since Gary Whild left to join Kidderminster Harriers in the summer of 2010, the club have had Matt Gardiner, Simon Redhead, Martin Sockett, Mark Fenemore, Graham Hyde try their hand at stabilising the club.

“I hope this deal continues the stability we have brought to the club,” said McDonald.

“We’ve had a full season, so the younger players all have a lot more games under their belts and will be better for it.

“My relationship with chairman Chris Swan and his wife Sallie is also rock solid and they leave me to run the club which is great.”

The manager is currently working hard on his squad for the 2014-15 campaign and set to reveal his new additions next week once the deals are finalised.

The club have also confirmed Callum Flanagan, Jim Mutton, Sam Youngs and Leavi Oshungbure have agreed to play for the Reds next season.

But Redditch suffered a setback after local rivals Stourbridge and Halesowen Town were surprisingly drafted into the Evo-Stik Northern Premier.

Both Black Country sides had been pencilled in for the Southern Premier only for the resignation of Worksop Town to force a reshuffle.

It means United’s closest rivals are Banbury United, which is an 84 mile round trip. The next nearest team is Cirencester Town, which is an 118 mile trek for Reds supporters.
