REDDITCH United hotshot Dior Angus is attracting interest from League Two side Stevenage.

Angus, who is not under contract at the Trico Stadium, has been approached to train with the football league outfit but no firm offer has yet been made to the player.

He has been put in the spotlight of higher-ranked sides after hitting the back of the net 17 times in 23 games this season.

However, boss Darren Byfield is keen to keep hold of the hitman as the Reds look to bridge the gap to the Southern Premier League's play-off places.

He said: "Dior has been asked to train with Stevenage but he hasn't agreed to do that just yet.

"I think the interest needs to be a bit more concrete and there needs to be a bit more certainly about where it could lead.

"You have to expect interest because he is flying this season.

"The way I want us to play really does help the attacking players and Dior has showed exactly what he can do.

"It can be a disruption but we would all be pleased if one of our players can get a move into the pro game. If that happens then it's my job to go out and replace them.

"The main priority is that Redditch do well but it shows that we are doing something right that other sides at higher levels are looking at our players."

Meanwhile, fellow striker Spencer Weir-Daley has now signed on duel registration with Halesowen Town as he looks to get more game time.

Redditch's clash at home to Gosport Borough last Saturday fell victim to heavy snowfall.

They are due to welcome Banbury United on Tuesday night before St Neots visit this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Byfield added: "We were really looking forward to a run of consecutive home games but it looks like the weather will mean it's not possible.

"We are now keen to get back to winning ways and getting some points on the board.

"We have played less games than a lot of the teams above us but we don't want the gap to the play-offs to get any bigger. We have to start putting back-to-back wins together."

The manager is now looking to bring in centre back recruits after Gui Mailancol and Marcel Simpson both left the club.

United have already made a host of bids as they look to bolster the backline.
