FORLORN Feckenham lost out to a late header as they suffered a 2-1 reverse against Smithswood Firs in Midland League Division Two.

In a tightly fought contest, Feckenham fell behind when Martin Crawford netted from a 39th minute corner but fought back to level through a spectacular 30 yard shot from Ben Cox which flew into the top corner of the net.

With a draw looking the likely outcome, Smithswood snatched the winner when substitute James Sawyer headed home from a corner.

Smithswood now leapfrog over Feckenham in the league table and boss Aaron Blackwood admitted: "It was disappointing to concede from a set piece - but overall this was a far better showing than the previous two games."

Feckenham attempt to hit back this Saturday when they host high fliers Northfield Town.

Although Feckenham were missing key players Umit Eminoglu and skipper Danny Williams, they were able to welcome back Joe Nokes following a long term ankle injury.

Feckenham have also been boosted with a new sponsorship deal with Cement Tile Shop Europe.

The American-based company will provide Feckenham players with tracksuits this season having previously been their match ball sponsor last term.
