STUDLEY cricketers threw themselves a relegation lifeline following an excellent eight wicket win over Hampton and Solihull in the Warwickshire League Premier Division.

Hampton and Solihull were restricted to 155 all out as Studley's medium pace attack of Luke Deeprose (three for 33), Jack Williams (three for 21) and skipper Andy Rhodes (two for 11 off nine overs) ensured wickets fell at regular intervals.

Classy Chris Perrins then plundered 69 not out, while Jack Williams with 38 not out and Sam Fonyodi on 25 offered plenty of support as Studley stormed to a winning 158 for two in 36 overs.

But despite this compelling success, Studley still remain rooted to the bottom of the table and skipper Rhodes said: "We've got five games remaining and we'll probably need to win all of them to stand any chance of survival.

"We're playing for pride, but this victory has given everyone a glimmer of hope."

Studley attempt to continue their great escape at Coventry side Bablake OB's this Saturday.
