STUDLEY suffered a start of season setback by crashing to a 2-0 reverse at home to Coventry Copsewood in Midland League Division One.

Injuries and absentees meant Studley started the game without a recognised striker - and it showed.

Studley boss Keith Draper said: "I can't remember us having a shot on target throughout the entire game. We never looked like scoring and the performance was well below where I expect us to be."

Sorry Studley conceded two goals within the space of two minutes with Liam Davies and Ashley Parker on target.

Studley's prospects weren't helped when both Will Tibbetts and Ollie Casey had to drop out in the warm-up owing to injury, while both new signing from Bromsgrove Sporting Andy Nicol and last season's leading marksman Gareth Evans were unavailable.

An unhappy Draper added: "We beat Coventry Copsewood in the Midland Floodlit League Cup final late last season and you could tell they had a point to prove.

"We looked lethargic throughout and I've made it clear to the players since what I expect from them".

Studley travel to Nuneaton Griff this Saturday and Draper revealed: "I've never won there as a manager, in fact I've never even picked up a point during my time in charge with Bromsgrove Sporting, Earlswood Town, Bartley Green and Studley.

"But at least all the players missing from the Copsewood game should be back."
