REDDITCH Borough has enlisted the help of one of its most dedicated coaches at board level as the club heads into a new era.

John Cox, 46, specialises in coaching goalkeepers from first-team to junior levels as well as managing one of Borough’s under-11s sides.

He joins Julian Workman, Michael Pearce and Martyn Bassett in helping to grow the community amateur sports club at its new facility, Mettis Sports & Social Club, Batchley, Redditch.

Workman said: “John is a friend to all at the club and regularly turns up on nights you might not expect him to, lending a hand with the keepers across all of the teams.

“Along with his family, he is always here and happy to turn his hand to anything and that approach ties in with the ethos of Redditch Borough.

“Not only that, John is a successful and professional man who will bring expertise as we look to build a sustainable future for the club.

“These are exciting but challenging times. We have done so much work in such a short space of time alongside our friends at the MSS but there is plenty more to do.

“In John, we have a focused, hard-working guy with the club at heart so he is the perfect fit. We are delighted he has agreed to come on board and on behalf of the club, I would like to place on record our appreciation for his ongoing efforts.”

Meanwhile, Borough’s first-team and club awards evening will be held on Saturday, June 17 at Mettis.
