NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens began the season in style by hosting their own coaching course, Halcyons Masters heritage game, and it had a positive start on senior field training.

A Level Two session was held at Hopwood Park for the first time with 10 newly-qualified Midlands coaches, eight of whom were Ravens, all invited to be part of the regional development programme.

On March 20, the club hosted their annual heritage game with the long-awaited rebirth of the Halcyons over-35s team’s shirt.

The side was made up of Midlands players, while Warrington Crossfield Masters helped to make up the numbers for the Ravens team.

The game was a hard-fought 0-0 but saw the unveiling of the original blue and red top from 20 years ago.

Senior field training started last Wednesday, March 23, at 7pm in preparation for their Challenge Mug competition on Sunday (1pm kick-off).

This season, Ravens have a strong squad returning but are always looking for new players with experience of playing rugby in both codes.

Senior training is every Wednesday (7pm) at Hopwood Park and anyone who would like more information can go to: www.newravensrl.co.uk
