WHITE Hart produced a fine performance against Kings Norton in the Heart of England Consolation Cup Final.
But the 48-shot handicap they had to overcome against the lower-ranked team eventually proved a bridge too far.
The Redditch club saw Paul Matthews, Stan Pritchard, Ray Richards and Stuart Rice all won, which gave them a 21-shot advantage in the final played at The Maggies club before the handicap team was applied.
The Over-60s A team jumped to fifth place in the Heart of England Division One after an arrow eight-shot win at home to Ye Olde Knowle A. Wins for Ken Brown (21-11), Graham Arnott (21-14) and Ian Humphreys (21-17) gave them 13 points, while Sheila Humphreys (20-21) and Mick Perrins (19-21) came close to increasing that tally.
The B team are now only 10 pointds clear of relegation in Division Three after a defeat at third-placed Mount Pleasant/Portland.
Norman Batchelor won his tie 21-14 while double- figure scores for Sue and Tony Sugden, Gill Croft,Mick Perrins and Anne Batchelor made it a competitive match despite the scoreline.
