REDDITCH super-middleweight Andrew Robinson is aiming to demonstrate the skills he has learned when he fights in Wolverhampton on Saturday.

The 28-year-old takes on an unknown European fighter on Saturday on the undercard of the English middleweight title clash between Thomas Costello and Tony Hill.

It will be the big-hitter’s fifth and final four-round bout and Robinson, nicknamed The Animal, aims to complete his first his 10 months as a professional in style at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Robinson, a member of Priory Park ABC in Dudley, has been training with Costello as part of his preparations and feels in great shape.

He said: “The training has went really well, I feel in the shape of my life and I am ready to go out and show how good I am.

“I am not sure who I am up against but that doesn’t matter, I will be concentrating on my own game.

“I won’t be going out aiming to knockout my opponent, just use the skills I have learned since becoming a professional and see what happens.

“Training with Thomas Costello has been very useful and I feel I have got a lot out of it.”

Robinson has certainly impressed in the year he stepped up from the amateur ranks to the professional game.

He started by seeing off Czech Republic’s Vaclav Skromach at the HMV Institute in Birmingham.

He then followed that up with a convincing points victory over Walsall’s Bobby Wood at the Wolverhampton Civic.

But his most recent bout in January was his most impressive as he knocked out Leamington’s Paul Mason in the first round at Walsall Town Hall.

With the prospect of longer six round bouts after Saturday’s clash and the dream of vying for a title by the end of the year.
