REDDITCH United are still waiting to learn their fate from the FA after the controversial abandonment at Workington.

The weekend's return fixture passed off peacefully with the Valley Stadium side holding an anti-racism awareness day after Reds manager Gary Whild was prompted to take action because of racist taunts from Workington fans to his players two weeks earlier.

The FA has remained tight-lipped since the abandonment but are believed to be awaiting the results of an investigation by Cumbrian police after a supporter was arrested in connection with the alleged abuse.

And Whild believes that can only be good news for United.

"I'm of the belief that because it has been investigated by Cumbrian CID the FA is waiting on their findings," said the Reds boss.

"Those findings have been very positive for Redditch United so far but we will have to wait and see."

Whild was certainly cheered by Saturday's comprehensive 4-1 demolition of a Workington side who came into the match joint top of the league and saw the performance as a vindication of his belief in his players.

"This is the third year of this league and the standard has certainly improved," added Whild. "It is a very competitive league and the trouble is you can put together three or four positive results and be in the top ten or have three or four bad results and be in the bottom six.

"Certainly I have seen nothing this year that is head and shoulders above us now that we have a fully fit squad to choose from.

"I think Saturday was a continuation of the good form we showed against Halesowen in the Birmingham Senior Cup a couple of weeks ago and against Alfreton after that."

And Whild will be hoping for more of the same from the visit on Saturday (ko 3pm) of a Lancaster side languishing in the bottom three, four points shy of the safety mark.

United have re-arranged their fixture for a week on Saturday and will now play at home to Hinckley United in the league because of scheduled opponents Gains-borough's FA Cup commitments.

And the Reds have been drawn at home to Midland Alliance strugglers Stratford Town in the Second Round of the Birmingham Senior Cup. The match will be played at The Valley on November 21.
