Redditch 0, Woodrush 40

RAMPANT Woodrush completed a Midlands Three West (South) double over their struggling local rivals Redditch at Bromsgrove Road.

The visitors, who crushed Evesham 42-0 in their previous outing, ran in six tries to cruise home against their relegation threatened hosts.

This clash quickly became a demolition derby with three tries in each half, all through the backs in a dazzling display of open, attacking rugby.

Woodrush talisman Steve Smart ran riot, opening the scoring and adding a second after the interval, as did stand-in winger James Evans, coming on after 10 minutes for the injured Ed Lerna.

Scrum-half Titch Thomas added the other try in the first period and Smart improved the scoreline with two conversions.

The tries in the second-half were of the highest quality with centre Andy McGrann also going over, with Smart converting all three to round off an impressive performance.

Victory lifted Woodrush up to fourth in the table, however, they are 13 points behind third-placed Old Leamingtonians, while Redditch remain bottom of the table.

Woodrush entertain Keresley on Saturday while Redditch tackle second-placed Shipston-on-Stour away on Saturday (both 2.15pm kick-off),
