A group of baton twirlers from Redditch have earned top spot with Team England at the World Championships in Liverpool.

Lauren Mernagh, Matilda Price, Estelle Stanley and Felicity Stanley are all part of Revolutions Twirlers and were selected to compete for the national squad at the International Baton Twirling Federation (IBTF) World Championships last October.

The England team won two gold medals and three bronze medals at the event making them two times world champions.

Head coach at Revolutions Twirlers, which is based at Arrow Vale Sports Centre, Anni Moorhead said: “It's been the pinnacle of my twirling career to train the girls to fulfil their dreams of being part of an international competition of the highest platform.

“As England Coach, I was honoured to be able to share this journey with them every step of the way.”

The competition was held over nine days last month and saw 21 teams from across the world take part with more than 2,350 registered competitors.

Ms Moorhead added: “I am so proud of the work ethic and professionalism the girls have demonstrated and to earn so many awards is just unbelievable. It was certainly a competition full of emotions and amazing memories".
