FORMER Worcestershire bowler Matt Rawnsley demolished Studley's hopes of grabbing something from their Birmingham League Division Three match at leaders Ombersley.

Brandon Miller's 42 could do little to lift the visitors who were all out for 146, left-armer Rawnsley taking 6-41.

In reply, an unbeaten 59 from Phil Burdon eased Ombersley to a seven-wicket win, the Worcestershire side reaching 149-3.

Studley are back in action at Washford Fields on Saturday when they take on basement club Solihull Bloss form 12.30pm.

A brilliant unbeaten 122 from Adam Gailey could not stop Redditch from suffering a seven-wicket defeat at home to fellow Worcestershire League Division One promotion hopefuls Worcester Nomads.

The Bromsgrove Road side went into the game as leaders and they looked like keeping their place at the top of the pile as Gailey and Stephen Rose (56) helped them to 216-4.

But the visitors had other ideas and took the honours after reaching 217-3 in reply, replacing Redditch at the top of the table in the process.

Astwood Bank climbed up to fourth following an impressive three-wicket defeat of Droitwich.

Bowler Jon Summers took 4-44 as the home side were dismissed for 138 before Bank's reply of 139-7 handed them victory. Bryan Melliard top scored with 51.

Alvechurch and Feckenham met in a Division Two derby clash and it was the home side that claimed a winning draw thanks to an impressive knock of 109 from Simon Deakin.

Matt Hayward chipped in with 52 as Alvechurch posted a target of 259. Feckham reached 205-7 in reply with Matthew Kings (58) top scoring.

Division Six leaders Hewell suffered a surprise defeat at home to Hallow, losing by three wickets.

And it was wayward bowling that proved their undoing with 54 extras being added to the visitors' total.

Hewell batted first and were all out for 208, a total Hallow reached for the loss of seven wickets.

Saturday sees Astwood Bank looking to contuinue their good run with a trip to Stourbridge, while Redditch are at home to Bewdley.

In Division Two, Alvechurch head to Malvern while Feckenham are at Netherton while Hewell travel to Colwall in Division Six.

Cookhill closed the gap on Cotswold Hills League Division Four leaders Blockley to just two points thanks to an impressive six-wicket victory over Earlswood 2nds.

And it was an impressive display of bowling from Alan Smith that paved the way, taking 6-13 as the home side were dismissed for just 99.

Cookhill had no real trouble reaching their target with Nick Charles blasting a quick-fire 49 before a patient unbeaten 26 from Shaun Hemming steered the visitors home.

The Division Three derby clash went the way of visitors Templae Grafton, who beat Great Alne by five wickets. The home side reached 160-7, with Grafton replying with 164-5.

Exhall & Wixford are still in the driving seat at the top of the Premier Division following their win at Moreton-in-Marsh.

Batting first, the visitors reached 237-3 and then resticted Moreton to 147-5 in reply.

And Bidford returned from Catherine-de-Barnes with a five-wicket victory in Division One.

The key game this weekend is at Exhall, where neighbours Alcester & Ragley are the visitors. Bidford head to Winchsombe in Division One while there are home games for Great Alne and temple Grafton against Norton Lindsey 2nds and Ashorne. Cookhill travel to third-placed Bearley in Division Four.

League leaders Entaco had to settle for a winning draw at Kings Heath in the West Midland 3rd XI League.

A season's best of 132 from Mark Watling helped the visitors to 253-8 before the Birmingham side held on at 61-8 to frustrate the Studley outfit.

Entaco are at home to Kenilworth on Saturday.
