ALCESTER pulled off an impressive 53-7 success over Cheltenham side Old Patesian Thirds in a pool fixture after original opponents Stratford Seconds pulled out.

Patesians made a promising start and went 7-0 up through a converted try.

But from that point, Alcester went onto dominate proceedings, running in four tries before half time, left wing Lewis Walker crossing twice to score.

Right winger Alex Chiles and skipper Jack Green increased the advantage while fly half Josh O'Connor landed one conversion.

O'Connor and second row forward Matt Johnson added further tries following the break before teenage centre Jamie Harland rounded off the scoring with a hat-trick of tries, the prolific O'Connor converted four more times.

League leaders Alcester return to Midlands 4 West South action this Saturday with a trip to Coventry side Keresley which kicks off at 2-15pm.

ALCESTER back row forward Phil Birks has been chosen as the Brostin Warmwell Society player of the month for February.

Birks has been one of Alcester's most consistent performers over the past decade and continues to lead his pack from the front.
