Redditch United 4 Cirencester Town 1

GURJIT Singh celebrated his second Redditch debut with a goal in each half to inspire his side to a comfortable win as they stretched their unbeaten run to five games.

The striker, who had a handful of games on loan at the Valley Stadium when he was on the books of Kidderminster Harriers, linked up with the Reds in midweek and promptly put in a man of the match display, adding an assist to his two-goal haul.

On six minutes he dispossessed Cirencester skipper Matt Liddiard before teeing up Luke Keen who steered his shot beyond keeper Raajan Gill.

The Reds dazzled in the opening half, slick passing and tireless running leaving their visitors in their wake.

And they were rewarded with a gem of a goal on 34 minutes that saw the ball worked the entire length of the field before Max Loveridge picked out Simeon Cobourne to fire into the empty net.

Cirencester keeper Gill had pulled off a string of decent saves through the half but he was beaten again two minutes before the interval when Keen turned provider, hustling the ball off a defender before setting up Singh who dispatched his shot beyond the unfortunate shotstopper.

United keeper Brad Catlow was equal to a couple of long-range efforts during the opening half but his biggest test came at the start of the second period when he had to push a well-struck Ross Langworthy effort over the bar.

But it was soon business as usual with the Reds adding a fourth on 53 minutes, Jordan Jones pouncing on a loose pass before picking out Singh to fire home.

Gill did well to deny Singh his hat-trick midway through the half and Keen and Cobourne also missed opportunities to further stretch the lead before Alan Griffin hit a consolation for Cirencester ten minutes from time.
