STRUGGLING Studley boss Kevin Kingham still believes he can turn matters around despite his side suffering another heavy hammering when they crashed 6-0 at second placed Nuneaton Griff last Saturday.

The result sends Studley tumbling down to second from bottom spot in Midland League Division One but Kingham remains far from downhearted.

He has been forced to rebuild the side from last season after being left with just four players from the previous term.

Kingham said: " I've got the squad back up to 16 to 17 players. It's not numbers I need, but some quality.

"In truth, we could do with a pre-season to get the player's fitness levels back up, but we don't have that opportunity, so expect another rough couple of weeks.

"To concede six goals is embarrassing but I'm hopeful of turning things around. I wouldn't stay at Studley if I wasn't confident of doing so.

"Both the players and myself haven't ever been in this position before and it 's going to be a challenge.

"I lost the spine of my side from last season and at the moment we're leaking far too many goals at one end and not scoring at the other, which isn't a good recipe for anything."

Kingham missed the game against Griff owing to illness.

He arrived at Griff's ground but had to return home feeling unwell leaving assistant Keith Draper to take charge.

Kingham said: "I kept in touch with Keith. We were only 1-0 down at half time trailing to a fantastic strike from Griff's Mitch Thomson.

"We had a great chance to level but Danny Dineen was denied by a great save from the Griff goalkeeper.

"But once Griff scored their second goal, it burst our bubble and goals continued to arrive at regular intervals."

Kingham has brought in Danny Ludlow from Bromsgrove Sporting, Pershore Town's Miles Jones and central defender Ash Buswell who was previously with Highgate United.

The Studley boss added: " I also got a couple of seven day approaches in, which should bring us up to 18 players. From there, we go again."

Studley entertain Pershore Town this Saturday at The Beehive when they'll be looking to avenge an earlier 4-0 defeat.
