Midlands Division 4 West South

Alcester 53, Claverdon 15

ALCESTER reaped rapid revenge for a recent Warwickshire Shield defeat when crushing local rivals Claverdon with a nine try spree to register their first league success of the season.

Skipper Jack Green led from the front by scoring four of the tries as Alcester inflicted their biggest win over the all-whites in living memory.

Alcester were able to call on a number of players who missed the first meeting, including veteran fly half Scott Carmichael who dictated proceedings and resumed a partnership with scrum half Robbie Parker which dates back almost 20 years.

The match was over as a contest within the first half hour as Alcester built a 36-0 lead, winger Jamie Harland running in a couple of tries before Green and opposite wing Lewis Walker, who has been named the club's September player of the month, crossed for further scores with Ben Hope adding a couple of conversions.

Parker then plundered a fifth try before Green grabbed his second and Alcester's sixth which he converted himself before Claverdon managed to stiffen up their defence and then kick a penalty to make the half time score 36-3.

Play proved more even after the break before Green grabbed his hat-trick and then kicked the extras.

Claverdon then claimed a try before Green took his personal tally to four.

A second Claverdon try followed before Alcester completed the scoring through flanker Ben Hope who took Alcester's tally beyond the half century point.

Alcester travel to Coventrians this Saturday.
