IMPRESSIVE Astwood Bank moved within four points of Birmingham League Division Three leaders Fordhouses following a conclusive six wicket win over Shropshire side Worfield.

The Bank some obtained the upper hand when Worfield were inserted to bat first and were immediately reduced to seven for three.

Tom Harris with two for 33 and Andrzei Jageilski who took two for 45 caused the early problems before Worfield recovered to reach 53 for six.

Mike Desmond then ripped out figures of four for 14 while Dan Taylor took two for 40 as Worfield were removed for 141 all out after skipper James Parker had provided top score of 37.

In reply, the Bank didn't have matters all their own way as Worfield strike bowler Dale Quiney picked up three quick wickets, including the key wicket of skipper Steve Adshead for 24.

But from 49 for three, the Bank didn't look back as Tom Underhill with 31 and Sam Thomas who struck 50 not out off 75 balls turned matters around.

They took the Bank to a winning 143 for four inside 33 overs to seal a comprehensive success.

Astwood Bank Seconds lost out by eight to league leaders Old Elizabethans in Division First 2.

Although Andy Alexander hit 57, the Bank were bowled out for 174 and Elizabethans breezed home in reply on 176 for two.
