LUKE Davis says Redditch must find some form with the bat to build on the good work of the club’s bowlers.

The Kingfishers are still waiting for their first win of the season in Worcestershire League Division One after being edged out by two wickets at the hands of Droitwich.

After losing the toss, Redditch were put into bat and made 155 all out, with only Russell Southwick (33) and Ghulam Moyhuddin (31) getting among the runs.

The bowlers did their best to trouble Droitwich but Jake Young (52) and Max Young (38) guided the visitors to 156-8.

Waqas Ali (5-38) and Joe Scarcella (3-48) were in excellent form with the ball.

Davis said: “We need to start scoring runs and if we could do that we’ll be in good shape.

“Joe and Waqas were in great form, so that bodes well for the season.

“Our bowlers did a good job and are playing well at the moment, so it’s up to the batsmen to start getting bigger totals.”

Redditch face their most important game of the season so far on Saturday when they take on Bromyard away (noon start), another side looking for their first win.

“It’s a big game for us but as soon as we score some runs then the confidence will come back.”
