CHARLOTTE Gilmartin savoured a fine weekend in Canada in the latest round of the Speed Skating World Cup as she raced to a new personal best in the 500m sprint.
The Redditch flyer, who was representing Great Britain, finished in an impressive time of 43.638 seconds to secure fourth place.
Gilmartin was faster than Elise Christie, who was fifth in the first set of final classifications in 43.703.
National coach Nicky Gooch said: “Charlotte had a very good weekend, she got a new personal best and I’d say that this is probably her best performance to date.
“Elise was a little unfortunate, but despite this she performed well this weekend, picking herself up and claiming two B final wins.”
Gilmartin was also ninth in the 1,500m, while Christie was fifth in the 1,000m.
