LIAM McDonald is set to agree a deal which will keep him in the Redditch United hotseat for another season.

Talks with chairman Chris Swan have been gone well and the United boss is ready commit for the 2014-15 campaign in the Calor Southern League.

McDonald is also confident that right-hand men Nick Green and David Bridgwater will also stay on board.

It has been an impressive first season in at the helm for the highly-regarded trio, who have guided the Reds to tenth in the league and success in the Worcestershire Senior Invitation Cup.

McDonald said: “The chairman still has a lot of energy and enthusiasm for the club; talks have been good, so that should be sorted in a few days.

“Nick and David have also played a big part in the team’s success, it is important to have two guys you can trust.

“We are a very together group and, like the players, we are hungry for success.”

The manager also revealed he is close to finalising his plans for next season and is hoping to reveal a several new signings next week and more details of the squad for the 2014-15 campaign.

Meanwhile, Redditch completed an impressive campaign by defeating Evesham 5-2 at Aggborough to lift the cup last Tuesday.

Top scorer Jermaine Hylton bagged a brace to make it 21 goals for the season, while Omari Sterling-James, Ashley Sammons and Jamie Molyneux also found the back of the net.

Redditch’s pace and power exposed an Evesham side, which was playing with a high defensive line.

McDonald said: “This is a very special group of players.

“When we joined, we knew we had to change the mindset at Redditch.

“The club had got used to struggling, but once the players knew we had ambitious plans they wanted to succeed.

“They have shown a tremendous desire and hunger and that is fantastic.”

United’s season is over but the management and squad are set to make a short trip to Portugal later in the month to further illustrate the strong spirit of the squad.
