REDDITCH footballer Joe Lolley played a huge part in Kidderminster Harriers' progression into the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The 21-year-old set-up two goals at Aggborough as the Skrill Premier pacesetters beat League Two Newport County 4-2.

Michael Gash had put the home side ahead in the 19th minute with a stunning strike.

Lolley helped Harriers double their lead in the minute 28th minute, when he saw a fizzing effort parried by keeper Lenny Pidgely into the path of former Alvechurch midfielder Callum Gittings, who fired home the rebound.

The exciting young striker, who has scored seven goals this campaign, played a brilliant pass in the 43rd minute to set up Gittings for his second.

Gash's fine free-kick put Harriers 4-0 up in the second half but Newport pulled back two consolation efforts through Robbie Willmott.

Harriers will now entertain Peterborough United in the third round of the cup on the weekend of January 4 or 5.

Coincidentally, Posh boss Darren Ferguson has been spotted at Harriers and has been linked with making a move for Lolley in January, who up until this season had been playing in the sixth tier of non-league football with Littletons.
