ALCESTER and Ragley eased their relegation worries in the Cotswold Hills League Division One as they got the better of fellow strugglers Warwick CC Staff by 44 runs.

Victory saw Alcester move out of the bottom two and opened an eight-point gap over Saturday’s opponents.

Adam Devey was the hero with the bat, scoring 70 with a late flurry as Alcester made 216-6 in their 45 overs. Michael Bennett also chipped in with 43.

Adam Swarbrick and Oliver Swinburn took three wickets each and Tim Jackson two as Warwick were dismissed for 172.

Alcester and Ragley go to Moreton-in-Marsh in the league on Saturday (1.30pm start).
