IN reply to Conservative Councillor Brandon Clayton re “Cynical Voting”
(You view, November 20) may I make the following points.
In his letter he stated the Conservatives say Redditch only needs 2,800 houses (built in Webheath?) not the 6,400 that Labour want. Brandon, that is still 2,800 houses too many.
You really know how to please your core vote, don’t you?
Webheath over recent years has expanded enough, thank you very much.
It is because of the relaxing of building regulations by Brandon’s Conservative prime minister that Labour can push for and most probably get the 6,400 houses they require to destroy the beautiful countryside on the edge of Webheath.
I did attend the other council meetings.
I heard Conservative councillors take it in turn to play to the gallery of public attending who objected to Local Plan 4: fine words, easily said, when you have not the power to act on them.
It was a master class of political opportunism.
Well done, it’s what politics is all about.
And finally councillor, it is the generosity of your Bromsgrove Conservative council colleagues that have made the prospect of a minitown where Webheath once stood a distinct possibility.
