Ipsley WI

President Carol Kinsey welcomed members to the June Meeting. Jerusalem was sung, minutes were read and approved and birthdays and anniversaries were announced.

Members were reminded of future events coming up, mainly the Thanksgiving Service at Ipsley Church on June 29 and most importantly our 50th birthday celebrations at Bromsgrove Golf Club on July 13.

The treasurer was pleased to inform us that the recent river trip to Tewekesbury made a profit of £85 and the Kurling Match also made a profit.

Carol introduced Pat Williams who came to demonstrate the art of modelling with marzipan. She showed how a very tiny amount of food dye is required and much kneading to distribute the colour evenly. She had several moulds which created different patterns , the marzipan was rolled over the mould with a small rolling pin and then trimmed with a small sharp knife, Pat also formed a very pretty daffodil and a rose and the little brown bear was delightful, Pat has been modelling with Marzipan for many years and made it look easy. She invited members to try their hand during the interval. Joy Gammon gave the vote of thanks to Pat. After refreshments the raffle was drawn. Winner of flower of the month was Judith Scott. Janet Cottrill was the winner of the competition for an item made from marzipan. Members were reminded of the August Outing to the Carpet Museum at Kidderminster. The raffle realised a sum of £34.60 and the trading table £19.

Carol closed the meeting at 10pm.
