A beautiful tea was prepared by Dianne and her staff from the Constance Wallace teashop in Barnt Green. Embroidered and lacy tablecloths laid with delicate china tea services graced us as we came in.

Then, after Denise Cashmore welcomed everyone and we’d sung Jerusalem, we had a feast of tasty sandwiches, scones and cream, gorgeous cakes and old fashioned trifles. It was superb andso nice for the committee to relax and be looked after too.

Our entertainment for the evening was a group of three singers in polka dot dresses called ‘Some Like It Hot...

Women’ who sang a mixture of 40s-60s songsquite apt to remember past times and enjoy singing along with some of the songs too. It was a good night remembering all we’ve achieved as WI members in 100 years helping women, their families and their country.

Looking around in our own WI, it’s also a time to be glad of all the friends and memories we have of being together and to be looking forward to the future with new members and new ideas.
