AT the last meeting of the club, councillor Mike Gittus JP came along to talk to us.
One would expect the talk to be somewhat politically themed but no, we heard all about his 20 years with the Lancashire Police Force.
Mike showed us many photographs including one of him sitting on his police motorcycle whilst wearing the full gear. His talk was entitled “Cop on a bike”, although he first went through the driving training outlined by the police book, Roadcraft.
Mike’s talk was both entertaining and interesting giving us some insight into the police force.
Next month on May 27, “How green is nuclear?” will be the subject of a talk by professor John Gittus, which we are much looking forward to hearing.
The club meets at the Kings Court Hotel each third Wednesday at 12.15 for 12.45 for a 3 course lunch followed by a speaker.
Anyone interested in joining should contact the secretary Bob Woodfield on 01789 762217.
