Twelve members ventured out in the snow for our first meeting of the new year. This was a blind tasting presented by Laithwaites. The six wines offered were presented in covered bottles and the evening was run rather like Call My Bluff.

Each team was given a different description to read out to the whole group and after consultation within the team, a decision was made as to which description was felt to match the tasted wine. The three whites were all Sauvignon Blancs from Chile, France and New Zealand and all were quite distinctive and varied.

The reds were also different, this of course making it more difficult to correctly assess the answer. With a small number attending, there was plenty of wine for the tasting and some to spare, and so we were able to enjoy and savour the wines afterwards.
