THE tenth anniversary celebration of a Worcester hospice raised an "outstanding" £10,000.

On Saturday Acorns Children's Hospice, which was established in Worcester in 2005, celebrated ten years of working with life-limited and life-threatened children and their families.

People enjoyed games and musical entertainment and could browse stalls selling food and craft items.

The event, which was opened by Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen, wedding organiser and wife of flamboyant interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, raised £5,000.

This amount was match-funded by Barclays, bringing the total to £10,000.

Mandie Fitzgerald, community fundraising manager for Acorns in the Three Counties, said: “We’re blown away by the support we received from the whole community and we are so grateful to everyone who helped to make it such a success, including those who came along on the day. To have raised such an outstanding amount is the icing on the cake.

“We would not be able to the vital work that we do without the support of the community across all three counties. This amount is a tremendous achievement in what is a significant year for Acorns.”
