IT was all about girl power at a motivational careers event at Prince Henry’s High School in Evesham.

Female representatives from local businesses joined forces to support the school at the event for Year 11 girls.

It was coordinated by design and technology teacher, Carolyn Wareham and gave the girls the opportunity to explore different career paths, understand what it may be like to work within certain industry sectors, and find out what options they need to consider on completion of their GCSEs this summer.

Miss Wareham said: "This careers event is the last in a series of workshops that we have specifically developed to provide support and ensure that, come summer, students are happy with their results and focused on a particular career path."

Representing local businesses at the event were Helen Dowling, founder of marketing agency Exceptional Thinking, Alison Davis, Cathy Righton and Rachel Marsh of Cargill, Hannah Haffield West Midland’s Young Person in Business and Senior Account Executive at Quicksilver PR, Karen Lewis, Procurement Manager at JDP Procurement Services Ltd, Jade Lissemen Business Development Executive at Betaris and John Parlow, Cpl Wayne Smith and Cpl Amy McFarlane of the British Army.

Hannah Haffield from Quicksilver said: "As an Evesham based business, Quicksilver PR always aims to support the local community where possible and as a result I was more than happy to attend the Prince Henry’s careers event, particularly as we were demonstrating some real girl power."
