A TOURNAMENT in memory of a teenager who tragically lost his life in January has been hailed a huge success.

Arron Bridger, 18, of Dormston Close, died when the car he was driving left the Coventry Highway and collided with a tree.

He left behind his parents Michelle and Pete, and brothers Ryan and Jack.

A football tournament was held in Arron’s name on April 24 at Arrow Vale’s Astro pitches. The event, organised by family friend Tim Laffan, was to raise money to put towards a headstone for Arron.

Tim said: “The tournament was a massive success, we couldn’t have asked for it to be any better.

“We have raised £1,600 pound so far, and we also have a number items for auction. Hopefully after the auction we can make the final figure nearer £2,000, which would be fantastic.”

Arron attended Dingleside and Ipsley middle schools and Kingsley College before going to NEW College, where he was a doing a two-year National Diploma in sports. His aim had been to study for a sports degree at university.

Friends and family described Arron as a polite teenager who would help anyone he could, and loved life.

He had a passion for football, which was why Tim decided to organise the tournament.
