THE summer fayre at St Peter’s Church, Ipsley, has been hailed a 'tremendous success' by organisers.
"The whole afternoon was buzzing with visitors, who enjoyed cream teas, and shopped from cake, plant, craft, bric-a-brac and Fair Trade stalls. The magnificent Wedding Memories exhibition was possibly the highlight of the afternoon," said church warden Heather Berry.
This was a collection of wedding dresses worn by church members over the years, the most vintage being 62 years old, and the most recent about 10 years old.
In addition a number of wedding photographs from the days of black & white photography were also on display.
There was opportunity for hands-on crafting for all ages. The children were kept busy on the bouncy castle, treasure hunts and with outdoor games.
The beautiful old church was displayed at her best with flowers, hand crafted frontals and interesting information, while visitors could relax to sessions of live music if they wished.
Some of the more energetic took a tour of the small bell tower, learning about the bells and bell ringing; some were even able to ‘have a go’.
"It was altogether a great event and a donation of the proceeds from various stalls is being made to the Acts of Kindness Redditch Foodbank."
