DURING the spring term children from four schools in Redditch have been working together to create art work based around the theme ‘Spring’ and ‘New Life’.

The schools involved were Crabbs Cross Academy; Webheath First School; Vaynor First School and Walkwood Middle School.

The children worked hard with their families during half term to explore artists and designers and make their own daffodil, which was put forward for a whole school competition. The daffodil could be made however the children wanted – the more unusual and imaginative the better.

All four schools have been focusing on creating artwork to develop drawing, painting and printing skills with their class teachers, exploring new and exciting artists.

Children who have shown a particular passion and flare for art have had the chance to work with local artist Sarah Fereday. These children experienced model making and working with textiles on a large scale.

This work will be displayed in Redditch library throughout April, for everyone to come and take a look.

A spokesman said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about current artists and new styles, as well as the sense of unity and excitement working closely with other schools. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm from the children’s families."
