BELLOWING announcers from across the country came together to take part in the annual Heart of England Town Criers competition held in Alcester High Street.
The traditional Easter event, was held on Saturday, April 4 and saw around 20 contestant from the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers come together in customary dress and demonstrate their skills.
Spectators witnessed the criers walking down the High Street and to the historic Malt Mill Lane.
Each crier was assessed by a panel of judges on a range of qualities including their volume, clarity and dress.
Trowbridge town crier Trevor Heeks was announced the overall winner of the competition.
Town criers date back to Medieval England where they were used to make public announcement throughout the streets, they would dress in elaborate clothing and carry a handbell.
The criers would shout oyez, oyez, oyez before making a speech as oyez means hear ye- a call for attention and silence.
