WORCESTERSHIRE witnessed the first solar eclipse for more than 10 years last week, and here's how many Redditch residents caught the spectacle on camera.
Telescopes and cameras were set up, along with viewing aids, allowing observers to examine the eclipse safely, without endangering their eyesight with the bright rays of the sun.
The eclipse, when the moon passed in front of the suns's disc, began at about 8.30am, and took about an hour to reach its climax, when some 90 per cent of the sun was obscured.
Cloudy conditions made many people nervous about missing the spectacle, but the skies cleared enough to give most people a sight of the thin crescent of sun which was all that was left visible at the height of the eclipse.
