A REDDITCH mum is set to take part 100km trek from London to Brighton to raise money for South Warwickshire Dyslexia Association.

Sarah Taylor, aged 43, was inspired to try to help the organisation, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, as her two sons Sam, aged 15, and Oliver, aged 12, both suffer from dyslexia.

She said: “As a mum of two boys with dyslexia, I see daily the difficulties that they encounter and frustrations when other people do not realise how this can affect them, not only when writing but in their day-to-day activities.

“This charity has helped both of my boys and now I would like to give something back.

“They are desperate to upgrade their technology which is now dated and I would love to be able to help them achieve this.

“They hold weekly classes to help children with dyslexia with English and maths and I have two boys who have both benefitted from attending these classes tremendously."

To prepare for the challenge, Sarah has been walking regularly and steadily building up the distance she travels each time.

She chose a walking challenge as she knew it was something the rest of her family could join in with too. Sarah will be continuously trek for more than 60 miles on May, 23.

She added: “I decided this year that I wanted to take on a personal challenge that tested my fitness, endurance and stamina.

“I have never done anything like this before and wanted to take on a big personal challenge this year not only to help get me fit but to also support a local charity of my choice, rather than the big charities you can sign up to, which all need money, but smaller ones can find it hard to fundraise.

“I would be hugely grateful for any donation you can give as this will support my chosen charity and also motivate me to keep up with my training schedule that I need to do to ensure that I am fit enough to take on this challenge.
