Potter Space, the market leader in the small to mid-box (sub-100k sq. ft.) industrial and logistics property sector, held a breakfast networking and panel event aimed at boosting business in Worcestershire on April 27.

The morning event saw local businesses, dignitaries and industry representatives come together to build connections and discuss opportunities in the county in the newest industrial unit on the Potter Space Droitwich Business Park, with the discussion chaired by Anna Cooper of The Business Desk.

Although headquartered in Leeds, Potter Space has operated in Droitwich for more than 40 years. The new industrial unit forms part of Potter Space’s £18 million investment programme, which will provide even more industrial and logistics space for new and prospective customers.

Mirroring the company’s belief in supporting local business, the catering, staging and filming suppliers were all sourced locally to Worcestershire, demonstrating the variety of businesses the county has to offer.

Jason Rockett, Potter Space’s managing director, outlined the company’s vision and unveiled the ambitious five-year growth strategy which seeks to bring its ‘Home for Business’ ethos to customers on a wider scale and meet the growing demand for industrial and logistics property space in the Droitwich and Worcestershire area.

Guest of honour and keynote speaker, Midlands-based broadcaster Nick Owen, delved further into the challenges facing businesses as demand for warehousing space outstrips supply, as well as the potential benefits in terms of wealth and job creation should decision makers free up more land to the industrial and logistics sector for development. Nick also highlighted the national challenges facing Worcestershire including skills shortages, supply chain disruption and the integration of advanced technology such as AI.

Joining Jason Rockett on the panel were Mark Powney, director at Savills Economics, Sharon Smith, CEO of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and John Dillon, managing director of GJS Dillon and board member of the Worcestershire LEP. The discussion covered topics including the business landscape of Worcestershire, the need for greater investment in infrastructure and how it could boost businesses as well as the importance of ESG strategies as Net Zero targets approach.

Jason Rockett, managing director of Potter Space, said: “It was a real pleasure to host this event at our newest industrial unit, giving our guests a unique perspective into what we do and showcasing the latest stage of our investment programme in Droitwich.

“The panel focused on a range of vitally important topics for the local area including the nationwide issue of demand for warehousing space outstripping supply – something that we are focusing on in great detail. By unlocking more development land for the industrial and logistics sector alongside residential space, we can ensure that business continues to boom not only in Worcestershire, but across the whole of the UK.”
