THE Alcester Male Voice Choir's annual concert is set to return to its hometown this year following a sell out success at last year's concert at Birmingham Town Hall.

The 43rd annual concert will be held at Alcester Academy on Saturday, April 8.

The performance will reflect on the choir's highly successful tours, both home and abroad, since it was formed.

Choir founder and director of music Judith Land BEM said: "It is well known that we hold regular concerts to raise funds for various charities and organisations. What may not be so well known is that we have also toured extensively both in this country and in mainland Europe, and only last September visited Belgium where we had the honour and privilege of singing at the last post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres. For this concert I wanted the overall performance to reflect this part of the choir's history. "

The 80-strong choir will be performing a wide variety of songs, including For the Beauty of the Earth, O'l Man River, She and Abide with Me.

They will be joined by popular duo Slater & Mcbride, whose contrasting musical style will complement the choir's performance.

The duo will be playing traditional Klezmer, Parisian, German, French, Belgian, Austrian and British music on the accordion and saxophone which relate to the choir's experiences whilst on tour.

Tickets cost £12.50 and are available from the choir's concert secretary on 078603 79668, a glass of wine and nibbles is included and will be supplied by the Alcester - Vallet Twinning Association.
