AN Alcester primary school has received a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to create a multi-purpose outdoor space.

Temple Grafton C of E Primary will use the Awards for All grant money to provide all-weather surfacing and new play equipment for the foundation stage play area.

Headteacher Sarah Hendry said: "Staff and pupils at Temple Grafton Church of England Primary School were delighted to receive the news that their National Lottery bid had been successful. The funds will benefit not only the Temple Grafton pupils but also preschool children and their families. "

A Big Lottery Fund spokesman added: "This will provide a new resource for children who live in a community that is experiencing the effects of rural isolation."

Once the work is completed, the school plan to run 'Stay and Play' sessions for pre-schoolers to enjoy the improved facilities.
