AN Alcester man facing two charges of attempted murder after a fire at a house in Cradley Heath has been further remanded in custody for a psychiatric report.
A woman and a six-year-old girl had to be rescued from the house in Chapel House Lane before being taken to hospital
for treatment for smoke inhalation.
Daniel Watkins of Smith Close is charged with trying to kill them both and he will next appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday, September 5.
That is the date the 24-year-old is expected to plead to the two charges with a trial provisionally fixed by Judge James Burbidge on November 30.
Mr Anthony Jones defending told the Judge the psychiatric report would determine whether Watkins would be
fit to plead to the two charges.
The trial of Watkins who spoke only to confirm his identity is scheduled to last for four days.
