TRUSTEES from the committee managing Alcester War Memorial Town Hall are appealing for a new chairman.

Usually those who stand are either already among the current members, have been nominated or have expressed an interest either in writing or verbally, but this year, so far, no such interest has been made for the position of chairman.

Anyone with the time and willingness to lead the committee and help maintain the building is urged to attend the publicly open Annual General Meeting (AGM) meeting on Wednesday, March 16 at 7.30pm.

Trustees are appointed annually during this AGM.

The committee includes Alcester Court Leet High and Low Bailiffs, representatives of organisations who use the town hall and residents.

The Town Hall, originally built in 1618, was purchased by the residents of Alcester in 1919 as a unique memorial to those Alcester soldiers who died in the First World War.
