THE final touches are being put into place for this weekend’s Hollywood themed Alcester Street Market.

Family-focused entertainment including a bouncy castle, fairground style side shows and a vehicle parade will be put on for the market which is taking place on Sunday, June 14.

A range of stalls set up by local organisations, societies and clubs as well as traders will line the High Street.

High Bailiff Vaughan Blake will officially open the market at 1.30pm with help from Marilyn Monroe and Duncan The Dinosaur from All Things Wild Nature Centre.

The annual event is put on by the court leet to raise money for the High Bailiff's charity fund.

Mr Blake said: “It promises to be a fun packed, if slightly mad, afternoon.”

Kicking off the star-studded entertainment, a fancy dress competition will be held from 12.30pm in Bleachfield Street.

At 1.15pm, celebrities will take part in procession from Bleachfield Street to St Nicholas’ Church Green where prizes for the best dressed will be awarded.

The winner of the best shop window competition will be chosen by rector of Alcester Minster Reverend Adrian Guthrie and Pastor Martin Mills from the Baptist church.

Awards for best stall will be judged by professor Clive Neal-Sturgess, the new mayor of Alcester, and his wife Elle.

Alcester Victoria Silver Band and Alcester Male Voice Choir will perform a medley of movie scores on the Church Green.

Alcester Academy’s Alcester Rock Academy will be performing outside the Hollybush during the afternoon.

The market officially closes at 4.30pm but music will continue until late.

During the day, High Street, will be closed to vehicles until 6pm.
