A CALL has gone out to boys and girls in the Redditch area who would like to become majorettes.

The award-winning Redditch Revolutions marching and display troupe need new members aged four and upwards for their forthcoming carnival and competition season.

The 25-strong troupe has recently returned from a national competition in Great Yarmouth and was placed in the top three nationally for every section they entered. The Juvenile Pom Dance Team did even better when they were placed first.

Troupe leader Anne-Marie Carter said: "We train in Upper Crossgate Road, Park Farm, on Tuesday evenings from 6-7.30pm and perform at events all over the Midlands.

"We decided to try competing this year and did very well in our very first competition, getting through to the nationals on October 13 and 16."

The troupe is also looking for a sponsor to help with costs.
