POLICE called in the tusk force when they handed over proceeds of a Redditch open day to charity.
Five the Elephant was on hand at West Midland Safari Park to witness the £1,024 donation to the Make-a-Wish foundation, a charity which grants the favourite wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
The money was raised by the 2,600 visitors who attended open days at Redditch, Kidderminster and Broms-grove.
Jennie Mould, the foundation's Alvechurch-based regional manager, said: "Make-a-Wish is aiming to grant 500 wishes in 2006 and the charity depends heavily upon events like this to raise money for our special children."
