Birmingham Athletic 1 Studley WFC 1

A GOAL in the last minute from Rachel Hopkins earned Studley a point.

With their home pitch deemed unplayable, Studley had to play at Birmingham's ground but got off to a good start by forcing two early corners.

Leaders Birmingham played good football but were physical, Studley matching them with palyer of the match Sam Wilkinson, Rachel Hopkins and Rosy Hughes dominating midfield.

The hosts were restricted to one good chance in the first half which keeper Louise Richardson tipped over.

At the other end Steph Jones worked hard as the lone striker without reward.

Athletic looked to release pacy winger but solid defending by Gemma Perry kept her out.

Birmingham took the lead a minute after the restart when the ball was not cleared and was returned into the top corner.

It was almost 2-0 soon after, but a rising shot went just over.

Studley pressed but looked to have missed out until substitute Tessa Whittingham won a free-kick just outside the box. Sarah Edney floated the ball to the far post and Hopkins headed home her third of the season.
