RESIDENTS are being invited to an eco woodland burial to pay their respects to a well known bike-mad man who has sadly past away.

Peter Harold Freckelton, 66, originally from Kington, was well known in Redditch and Bromsgrove where he was a plastering contractor before moving to Cornwall in 2001 to begin a new life in a guest house in Perranporth with his family.

He died of natural causes at his home in Perranporth on Sunday, September 27.

The woodland burial will take place at Holberrow Green, near Inkberrow, at 2pm on Monday, October 12.

It will follow a motorcycle procession leaving from the Arrow Mill Hotel a few miles away starting at 1.30pm.

Any bikers or residents wanting to join the procession are welcome and black clothing is not compulsory.

Peter’s daughter Anna-Marie, said: “Peter was mad about motorcycles, for the procession he will be escorted in a Triumph motorcycle and sidecar hearse.

“There will be a number of motorcycles in the procession, including his Velocette Venom being ridden by his eldest son Peter, and his other son David riding his own motorcycle which Peter helped him to fix.”

Peter was an avid bike fan and was instrumental in the start up of the Alcester branch of the Velocette Owners Club in the late 60s.

He leaves behind his wife Diana of 42 years, five children Amanda, Peter-John, Melanie, Anna-Marie, and David, eight grandchildren and brother Martin.

Peter's daughter-in-law Heather Malyan added: “He was a much loved husband, father, and honorary father to his two daughter-in-laws myself and Judith and two son-in-laws Craig and Richard and grandfather.

“He will be very well remembered for his endless jokes and silly songs by his children and grandchildren.”
