IN his report for January which was presented to the library committee of Redditch Urban District Council on Monday evening, the Redditch librarian Mr Roy Vann stated that since the opening of the extension to Redditch Public Library in March 1956 the committee had lacked a clear objective regarding future policy for the library.

“There are a high number of problems such as the provision of a mobile library and the staffing of the library, which can hardly be given adequate consideration in the short time allotted to the meeting of the committee,” said Mr Vann.

The Redditch librarian went on to list other problems facing the library and said that things needed to improve sooner rather than later adding that if nothing was done soon the library would fall into disarray.

A decision to look into Mr Vann’s report and address some of the more serious problems was agreed.
