WALKING and cycling improvements have been completed at Arrow Valley Park in Redditch.

Work was carried out work to widen the footpath along the northern edge of the lake to four metres to improve accessibility for pedestrian and cyclists.

The works also included the levelling up of the path, to improve access for all users.

Areas have been designated for the planting of wildflowers to help increase the biodiversity of the park, while the local Lions Club planted two cherry trees along the stretch for the Queen’s Jubilee, with a plan to plant more in the future.

Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Transport and Highways, Councillor Alan Amos, said: “The path around the lake at Arrow Valley Park is very popular for people out for a walk, a run or on their bike, so I’m pleased that we’ve been able to make these improvements for all users of this area.

“We’re committed to improving the cycling and walking network in Worcestershire and these works in Redditch are just one of many taking place to enable people to get out and about and enjoy our beautiful county.”

The work was delivered by Worcestershire County Council, working with Redditch Borough Council.

The need for improvements within the park were highlighted as part of the Emergency Active Travel Fund.
